Sept 2006, 0-1 month old

The first month home with a newborn is quite an experience to get used to. Makenna didn't start sleeping through the night until she was almost 7 weeks old so getting up every 2 hours to feed was exhausting. I tried not to wake Chuck up because I was on leave and I didn't want him to have to give up sleep given his line of work. I had my moments when I just broke down in tears from being so stressed out but then all I had to do was look at her and see that precious little face and it was all okay again (much like I still do today, 2 1/2 years later haha). And just the basic things that a first time mother experiences: trying to breast feed (with no success); taking Makenna out for the first time in the car/stroller (and putting the carseat in the stroller backwards haha); getting puked all over (little did I know this would happen to me ALL OF THE TIME!).

During this month Makenna gained from her take home weight of 5lbs 10oz all the way to 8lbs. She also grew maybe 1 inch. She was still wearing premis, getting ready to graduate to newborn sizes.

At her 2 week appointment. Still in premis size but wearing newborn clothes because I had been stuck at home with her not allowed to leave until she was given the go ahead to be taken off the bili lights, which happened at this appointment. Needless-to-say, mom and I went shopping the next day! She had gained back up to her birth weight of 6lbs 1oz at this appointment.

Her first premi outfit. She's so cute! The shoes were still too big and the head band was too small. What can I say, she had/has a big head. haha

First bath after her cord fell off. Water must have been too cold because she SCREAMED her head off through the whole thing!
