So, since the last time I actually updated was at the end of August this may take a while and will probably be all over the place. :-)
Makenna started off pre school loving it and still does. She's developed so much more of a personality now and has become such a funny little girl. She laughs all of the time at her show she watches on TV and it's just neat to see her understanding what's going on and finding the humor in it. She is still into everything and I really don't know that will ever change, but she just loves to play so much. I have a feeling she'll be a person that will love to make jokes and just laugh at everything. And she is SOOOOOO independent and stubborn it is not even funny. I can only imagine 12 years from now how much we are going to butt-heads.
Gosh, I'm trying to think of things that have happened over the last few months. Makenna was a lady bug for Halloween, and a darn cute one I'd like to say. She really got into it this year yelling trick or treat a 1000 times. We went to visit my cousin in Georgia over my fall break. She took some really great pictures of the girls, you can check them out on my facebook if you would like to until I post pics on here. We had a great Christmas this year with her. She was so much fun. She got her big dinosaur that makes noises and has buttons from Santa like she asked for and LOVES it. My brother also got her this HUGE dinosaur that you can sit on and it also makes noises. She asked for a week who ate Santa's snacks and drank his milk and we kept telling her Santa did but she never made the connection. Hopefully she's not questioning his existence already. She was being bad one day and my mom (nana) told her that Santa wasn't going to bring her a dinosaur if she kept acting bad. Mom told me that Makenna went and got her play phone and the conversation went like this, "Hi Santa. I'm half on the naughty list and half on the good list but please don't bring my dinosaur to Nana's house, bring it to mine." Oh the imagination.
Oh, I almost forgot: soccer. Wow...let's just say I don't really think she was exactly ready for a sport yet. :-) They had like a short 10 min 'practice' just before the game and then the game was 4, 4 minute quarters, clock running. She would do okay through the practice and the first quarter and then after that she was done. It was a struggle to keep her out on the field and I had to chase that little girl more than once across all of the fields. I've said this before, but I don't know how I don't constantly lose weight chasing after her all of the time. I didn't sign her up for basketball this winter because I wasn't going to do that all over again. I'm still debating on Tball but that's a few months away.
I spent the last 2 weeks of the semester packing up my room for the big move to the new building. I went up there 2 days last week unpacking and reorganizing everything. It's so nice to not be cramped. I can't wait until Monday when all of the students get to see it for the first time...SO EXCITING!
And then there's potty training: This phrase should be considered forbidden! !@#$%! She still won't tell me when she needs to go but will pee if I take her. I've had so many people tell me to do this and that, let her run around naked, put panties on her, punish her (never in a million years) but nothing works with her. And to be honest, getting all of these suggestions from people is starting to get old because they don't know Makenna and just because something worked for their child or just because their child did it early, doesn't mean Makenna is going to be on that same schedule. All children are different and just like with any other developmental activity, all children do things at a different pace. I really don't know what else to do but just wait for when she is ready. She is very stubborn and she's not going to give in until she's good and ready. I don't feel like I'm a bad mom because she's almost 3 1/2 and still isn't (the boy down the street is 10 days older than her and is doing the same thing) and I don't think she's 'slow' or whatever because an 18 month old is. With everything that we've been through with her: taking her off the bottle, moving her to a big girl bed, taking the paci away, this is the hard one. I'm sure when she hits the teenage years I'll look back and want this problem back.
Well, I think that's about all for now. I'll try to post pics soon.
